CONTROLLER

Located in Hopkins Minnesota

 

Reporting to the Director Operational Finance, the successful incumbent will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting activities for 4 of our Thermotech manufacturing facilities. Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated team player with good communication and organizational skills and would be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Planning, directing and the execution of company policies and procedures to preserve assets and profitability of operations. Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures specifically for the Division as required to insure correct reporting of results and to control assets.
  • Maintain communications and contact with Corporate personnel and staff on all pertinent matters.
  • Supervise controller's staff and administer all facets dealing with department personnel.
  • Interpret operating results as they affect the financial aspects of the Division and make specific recommendations which will result in cost reduction and profit improvement.
  • Supervise the development of plan exhibits and annual budget. Includes development of individual part standards and execution of same.
  • Maintain and improve the timeliness and accuracy of the daily/weekly plant metric reporting.
  • Control and coordinate the month end closing process.
  • Ensure adequate financial controls are in place to protect company assets and appropriate separation of duties.
  • Reconcile I/C accounts between US/MX companies and Thermotech and other I/C within the Plasman Group.
  • Ensure accuracy of the NPL project cost list and work directly with NPL team to provide timely closure and needed follow through with projects.
  • Act as immediate contact with Corporate and independent auditors on accounting matters.
  • Primary responsibility for review and negotiation of customer contracts.
  • Review and edit customer and supplier contracts.
  • Continually assess divisional pricing and financial models. Revise as necessary to accommodate market needs and financial objectives. Consult on evaluation of major projects.
  • Provide key leadership role in business system development process.
  • Implement Excellence Process, and actively encourage and sponsor employee involvement activities, continuous improvement and the excellence goals.
  • Seek ways to utilize information systems to further divisional goals.
  • Catch and develop direct reports and build bench strength.

Make recommendations regarding accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR DESIGNATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a post-secondary degree in business or accounting, or possess equivalent experience
  • Accounting designation (C.A., C.P.A., C.M.A., C.G.A.) preferred    

 

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have at least 10 years' experience (with 5 of these years in a Manufacturing environment) in accounting with a minimum of 2 years in a Supervisory capacity
  • Strong knowledge of standard costing principles
  • Experience working with ERP systems

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Advanced level computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills in written and verbal formats
  • Sound financial and business insights
  • Ability to perform well in high pressure situations
  • Be a positive and ethical role model to employees in all business dealings
  • Capable of independent travel to, from and within designated regions
